Bridging The Gap Through Education
The Muslim Education Forum is working closely with schools in the Luton area, with the aim of aiding them in enhancing students’ academic education. From our work distributing the Muslim Parents’ Handbook in local primary schools, to the Stronger Communities initiative, we are committed to helping schools and their students’ at all stages of their education.
One of the fundamental problems in Luton is the lack of understanding between the Muslim and non-Muslim community which is leading to the Muslim community being increasingly isolated and the Non-Muslim community feeling confused, especially when they receive a lot of their information through the media.
Our aim is to bridge the gap between these two communities through education. We aim to do this through projects aimed at schools in Luton so that both communities can understand and relate to each better so that our similarities and shared values are emphasised rather than differences.
We hope to provide factual and useful information about Islam which corrects the misconceptions common in the media and gives accurate information about Muslims. Since its inception the MEF has worked closely with schools and educational departments in Luton. Ad we hope to be able to advice schools where required on issues relating to education in the Muslim community, and how best to help students.
