The Muslim Education Forum was established in September 2005 by a number of young Muslim women in Luton in order to tackle at a grassroots level, the disengagement of Muslim youth from both mainstream British and Islamic society.We are an independent voluntary organisation and not affiliated to any religious or political organisations.

The MEF consists of Muslim teachers, social workers, lawyers, and others interested in the future of Muslims in Luton and committed to working towards improved cohesion and dialogue. The MEF was officially launched on 8th December 2005 at a dinner held at Luton Sixth Form College. Opening speeches were made by Dr Nazia Khanum, and Lord Bill McKenzie.

Subsequently Lord Adonis, the Government Minister for Schools requested a meeting with us in January 2006, to find out more about our organisation and what we were trying to achieve. Our meeting with him was detailed and positive. We were able to explain the problems faced by Muslim children and parents, and what our strategy is to resolve them. His meeting with us provided us with even more endorsement and recognition.
